Puffins Plunging on PúfaInspired by a trip to Iceland. Púfa is a curious art installation in that it is a man made hillock with an adorned with a wooden shed for drying fish. The area is intended to be a place for meditation. I took full advantage while in Reykjavik to do just that. The puffins were artistic license.
Responding to a ThreadTaking the known and placing it in the unknown. What began as a study of detail on a piece of rope progressed into composing a surreal landscape. The painting aspires to provoke questions by taking the common and transforming it into the unique.
Prelude to a ConspiracyA group of ravens is called a Conspiracy . What began as a study of detail on a piece of rope progressed into an exploration of themes and archetypes. The image of trees and ropes can be triggering. While the piece is not intended to have shock value, it does aspire to provoke contemplation.

The quiet times also offer stark contrast to the reality that some are without a home. One's possessions and memories may be relegated to residence without a roof.I was inspired to create a tableau via reference photos that I had taken while out on early morning walks with my dogs. The paintings were created with artistic license to convey an alternate perspective of settings in our everyday lives. I did not work from photos taken of the houseless, as I have no interest exploiting another person’s living situation.
Arnada: HomeThe second painting inspired by Arnada Park. The early morning fog shrouds nature with a surreal light. The quiet times also offer stark contrast to the reality that some are without a home. The tent ensconced in the play structure serves as a metaphor for the challenges of daily living.I was inspired to create a tableau via reference photos that I had taken while out on early morning walks with my dogs. Arnada: All Good ThingsThe third in a series of paintings inspired by early foggy mornings in Arnada Park. The surreal light creates an ambiance that changes the perspective from the familiar to the surreal. The abandoned shoes cast high among the bare tree branches conveys clues to a journey near its end.I was inspired to create a tableau via reference photos that I had taken while out on early morning walks with my dogs. The paintings were created with artistic license to convey an alternate perspective of settings in our everyday lives. Sirens RevisitedOil on canvas 48 x 60”.The mythology of the sirens is a theme that I have used in previous works. I've revisited it, along with the imagery of the ship in a bottle, to convey a sense of dynamic peril. Even as we attempt to insulate ourselves from desire and distraction, we are often times compelled to pursue it.

Her father was a practical man with his feet firmly in the ground. He chose to gift his daughter with a cow instead. While not what she had in mind, she had room in her heart for her new pet.
